Arthritis Center Ready For Future Challenges
A few months ago, The Western Pennsylvania Hospital opened a new Arthritis Center, an increasingly important regional resource, helping an ever-growing segment of our area’s population stay active, mobile and pain-free.
The Arthritis Center provides the latest treatments for patients suffering from the more than 100 different conditions listed under the broad heading of “arthritis.” These conditions include osteoarthritis and a range of autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, gout, lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus), osteoporosis and other inflammatory illnesses.
Center specialists Leo Bidula, MD, Deborah J. Co, MD, Elliot Goldberg, MD, Paul Killian, MD, and Holly Lowther, MD, coordinate each patient’s arthritis care team — which may include nutritionists, physical therapists, pharmacists, exercise specialists or other healthcare professionals whose special knowledge will benefit the patient.
